Aqua Fusion – 
The ultimate aqua fat burner ! A full body workout incorporating cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility. Perfect for all levels of fitness using a variety of aquatic equipment.

Aqua Zumba – 
Jump into the Latin inspired, easy-to-follow, calorie-burning, dance-fitness party that makes working out a splash. Come Zumba down with Instructor Mary Brown.

Aqua Yoga – 
Aqua yoga has all the benefits of land-based yoga such as stress reduction, better body awareness, and increased flexibility. Being in the water adds an increase in your range of motion, decompresses your spine, reduces the weight on your joints and is accessible to everyone. Come have fun and limber up your body and mind.

Aqua Barre – 
Focusing on postural strength, alignment, flexibility and balance. Participants will utilize the barre for ballet and pilates inspired exercises in the pool. This class is great for those who are looking to lengthen and tone muscles but want to avoid stress on the joints.

Aqua Motion – 
A non stop water workout concentrating on advanced cardiovascular training; get ready to sweat !.
Date: Sat:  11am-12pm     Fee: $6

Aqua Power –
A full body workout with emphasis in strength building, cardio conditioning and functional movement. Choreographed interval training, switches from low to high resistance by changing hand positioning, body orientation and using dumbbells. The class is effective for building muscle and burning calories all day ! All fitness ages can enjoy this powerful experience with our latest Instructor, Christian Aguillon.

Aquatic Fitness Class – (NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME)
Join us for a fun and invigorating exercise session. Aquatic Fitness offers a great muscle toning and cardio workout with the benefits and support of water.

Complete Aquatic Work Out – (NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME)
This class is designed for a complete work-out using the natural resistance of the water and aided by resistance bells.  The class offers stretching, toning, range of motion, balance, strength training, and aerobics, and oh yes, FUN!  It is designed for swimmers and non-swimmers alike, and is conducted in both shallow and deeper water (noodles are used) for a total body experience. If air temperature is below 75 ° please call ahead to insure class will be in session.

Learn to Swim

Recreation Department offers a comprehensive Aquatic program including American Red Cross swim lessons for all ages. Each class is taught by certified and trained instructors and includes fun activities and lessons to help the participant learn how to swim and how to be safe in and around the water. Please call the pool office at 727-363-9264 to register for lessons.


Lifeguard Training

Lifeguard Classes- 15 years and older: *** All Classes are Cancelled Until Further Notice ***
Participants must complete a pre-test in order to continue in the class. The pre-test consists of treading water for 2 minutes using legs only,  swimming 300 yards without stopping and swim 20 yards, surface dive and retrieve a 10 pound brick from bottom, resurface and swim back to the starting point and exit pool.

Water Safety Instructor- 16 years and older *** All Classes are Cancelled Until Further Notice ***      
This is a blended learning course, combing online study and in class/pool work. Attendance at each class is mandatory. Participants will master the skills & knowledge to teach ARC swim lessons. Certification valid for 2 years. Students must complete a pre-requisite swim skills test consisting of: 25 yards in front/back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke; 15 yards butterfly; tread water & back float for 1 minute.

Adult Swim Classes for ages 15 years & older: *** All Classes are Cancelled Until Further Notice ***      
Terrified of the water? Let us teach you how to swim. Private classes consist of instruction in basic swimming, stroke techniques and personal safety skills. Class is set up to move at your own pace with no pressure to advance quickly. Lessons are 30 minutes each. To register visit or call the pool office 727-363-9264.

St. Pete Beach Masters
Maintain a healthy physical condition and positive mental well-being, enhance and revitalize fitness regimens or train for a special event. New members are accepted throughout the year. The team invites all swimmers to attend a practice and learn more about St. Pete Beach Masters. 
Date:  Mon & Thu: 5-7am
Fee:  $40 month or $5 drop in

West Coast Aquatic Swim Team (ages 5 or older):
Florida West Coast Aquatic Swim Team is an age-divided, competitive, year-round swim team that practices daily and competes in local, state and national USS sanctioned meets. Private Swim Lessons (Year Round)
Our trained and certified instructors with work together with you to create a plan and move your towards your goals with one-on-one training. Classes are 30 minutes per lesson.

Fee: $40 per class

Free Swim Lessons (Ages 3 to 14 years old, Spaces Limited):*** All Classes are Cancelled Until Further Notice ***        
Learning to swim is an on-going process and after taking this introduction to swimming, we encourage students to continue participating in our regular Learn-to-Swim program throughout Spring & Summer.  Classes are held on Saturdays at 9:00 or 9:30am and 30 minutes per lesson.

Parent & Child Lessons(Ages 6 Months to 3 years old): *** All Classes are Cancelled Until Further Notice ***        
Emphasizes water adjustment, parenting skills and water safety. Special attention is given to the varying development stages of this age group. Goals for this class include the child’s enjoyment and adjustment in and around the water while instructing parents how to assist in the development of their children’s future swimming skills. No refunds given for cancelled classes due to unforeseen circumstances. 
Each session has (8) 30-minute classes over 2 weeks.
Fee: $45 per session

St. Pete Beach Recreation Department offers a complete learn to swim program to meet the needs of the entire community. Classes are offered for all ages from infants to seniors. Lessons are taught by American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. All classes are held for two weeks with (8) 30 minutes sessions held Monday-Thursday. No refunds given for cancelled classes due to unforeseen circumstances.
Fee: $45 per session

Session I: April 6 – 16  (sign up 4/2)

Session III: May 4 – 14 (sign up 4/30)

Session IV: May 18 – 29 (sign up 5/14) * No class 5/25, make up date is 5/29

Class Level Descriptions

Level 1, 2, 3, 4: (ages 3 and older)
Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills       Purpose: Help students feel comfortable in the water
Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills       Purpose: Give students success with fundamental skills
Level 3: Stroke Development                     Purpose: Build from skills in Level 2 with add’l  guided practice
Level 4: Stroke Improvement                   Purpose: Develop confidence in strokes and improve other skills

Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
Purpose: Help students feel comfortable in the water.
  -Basic water safety rules
  -Using a life jacket  
  -Submerging mouth, nose and eyes
  -Opening eyes underwater and picking up submerged objects         
  -Exhaling underwater
  -Swimming on-front and back using arm and leg actions      
  -Floating on front and back
 -Recognizing a swimmer in distress and getting help

Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Purpose: Give students success with fundamental skills
  -Moving in the water while wearing a life jacket      
  -Submerging entire head      
  -Front and back glide
  -Treading water using arm and leg motions      
  -Recognizing a swimmer in distress and getting help
  -Bobbing in water       
  -Jellyfish float       
  -Swimming using combined stroke on front and back

Level 3: Stroke Development
Purpose: Build on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice.
  -Reach assist       
  -Submerging and retrieving an object       
  -Front and back glide
  -Front and back crawl       
  -Kneeling or standing dive      
  -Rotary breathing in horizontal position
  -Survival float, back float         
  -Butterfly-kick and body motion

Level 4: Stroke Improvement
Purpose: Develop confidence in the strokes learned and improve other aquatic skills
  -Safe diving rules       
  -Dive from stride position or shallow dive      
  -Survival float, back float
  -Elementary backstroke, breaststroke, Butterfly      
   -Throwing assist       
  -Feet-first surface dive
  -Front and back crawl
