Hurricane Idalia Debris Cleanup
St Pete Beach,
We have made significant progress in collecting all forms of hurricane debris across the island. At this time there are very few remaining properties to service therefore, Wednesday, September 20, 2023 will be our last day of collection. Waste Connections will resume collection for all household trash and vegetation beginning September 21st.
Sincerely,
Mike

Waste Connections has resumed collecting household trash and recycling with our normal pick-up schedule.
All vegetative debris, construction debris, hazardous waste, large appliances, and electronics will be collected by our FEMA Response Contractor. They have mobilized to the island and will begin collections Monday, September 11, 2023, please try to have all hurricane debris to the curb by this date for pickup to begin.
To prepare, please set out all hurricane-related debris on the street curb by your normal trash collection location in separate piles, organized by debris type (vegetative debris, construction debris, hazardous waste, large appliances, and electronics) as detailed in the graphic above by Monday, September 11, 2023.
Construction debris, hazardous waste, large appliances, and electronics from flooded residences are eligible for pickup; households that did not flood are not eligible to put out debris other than vegetative debris and sandbags.
The contractor will NOT collect from our alleyways, as the equipment is too large. All debris must be set out on the street; it does not matter which one if you live on a corner. Do not set any debris next to a tree, your mailbox, a phone pole, or any other structure, as the collection vehicle is very large and uses a claw to pick up the debris.
All our vegetative debris is recycled, so do NOT use plastic bags. Do NOT put vegetation in cans or carts. Do NOT co-mingle anything else with the vegetation. It is ok to put loose debris such as small branches in paper bags, which are available for free at Public Works (7581 Boca Ciega Dr) and the Library (365 73rd Ave). If you give us a call, we will deliver them to you.
This process is expected to take approximately one month, so please be patient. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Public Works at (727) 363-9243.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
